Today, cell phones are widely used for various purposes as people are in need of electronic
gadgets to make their work easier. Everyone travels a lot and need music and entertainment on the go. No one has time to use traditional notepads and pens to schedule their appointments. Modern day cell phones have all these facilities and you can forget about carrying multiple devices when you have a cell phone.
The cell phones are available with memory cards that can be utilized to store massive amounts of data. The smart phones available in the market today have gone a long way that they are very similar to PDAs when it comes to functionalities. Business men prefer using cell phones for many of their business purposes. With the cell phones, one can get ready for the meeting while on the go. When the data in cell phones are needed in other mobile devices, you just have to spend a few minutes to transfer large chunks of data.
Cell phones can be connected to your PC and you can access data present in both devices using software in your computer. You can connect your cell phone to your computer using USB cable, IR connection, and Bluetooth. Nowadays, IR connection is not used widely. You can use Bluetooth to connect two mobile devices that use Bluetooth technology. This feature allows you to bypass the price you have to pay for your service provider for transferring data.
GPRS allows you to transfer data from the web to your cell phones in a few minutes. 2G mobiles offer data transfer rates of 56 kbps to up to 114 kbps depending on the service provider. 3G equipments are much faster and with a reliable service provider, you can experience a speed of 384 kbps when you are stationery and 128 kbps while you move in a car. These high speed data transfers help you to surf the net using your cell phones. In the present world, if you have the latest smart phone on your hands, you can simply forget about your computer and laptop for carrying out essential business tasks.
While several service providers provide data transfer services using GPRS, you have to choose your plan based on the allowed amount of data transfer. Certain service providers restrict the total amount of data that you can transfer using your cell phones. When you exceed this limit, you have to pay extra fees for every kilobyte you transfer. However, several providers are increasing the maximum limit because customers are expecting reliable GPRS services at a low price.

I use a low-end smartphone, Nokia E51, that uses a simple USB cable for data transfer. After installing Nokia PC Suite, it is treated like a USB Flash Drive, very fast, easy and painless.

i am hoping more and more companies will lower down the cost of data transfer for the consumers, anyway it really doesn’t give the any disadvantage because they have other services that they can add cost on services like VM.
